Most of these races have no GPS on the runners. The only truth is the time each athlete crosses a checkpoint. We take those official splits and estimate position between stations using the field's real historical pace for that exact stretch of course, adjusted for how each runner is actually moving on the day.
A runner is never shown past a checkpoint they have not reached. If they are overdue, they hold at that checkpoint and get flagged, so the map never invents progress that did not happen.
Every runner has a shareable link, an estimated arrival time at their next checkpoint, and their full race history. Follow anyone with a star and they stay pinned on your map.
